Role description:
The Head of Customer Due Diligence and Monitoring Division is responsible for leading and managing the CDD and monitoring functions within the organization. This role involves developing and implementing strategies to ensure effective customer due diligence, monitoring of customer transactions, and compliance with anti-money laundering (AML) regulations. The position requires a strategic leader with a deep understanding of regulatory requirements, risk management, and team leadership.

What will you be doing?
- lead and manage the CDD, sanctions, and monitoring team; providing strategic direction and guidance;
- foster a culture of compliance through regular communication and awareness initiatives, ensuring the staff is trained and aware of AML, CDD and sanctions regulations;
- develop, update, and enforce AML, CDD and sanctions-related policies and procedures;
- ensure that policies are aligned with current regulations and industry best practices;
- develop and implement risk-based approaches to compliance monitoring and ensure that risks are effectively managed;
- oversee the development, implementation, and maintenance of the AML, CDD and sanctions compliance programs;
- ensure compliance with all relevant regulations;
- work closely with other compliance and risk management teams to ensure a holistic approach to financial crime prevention;
- collaborate with business units to ensure compliance requirements are integrated into business processes;
- coordinate with other departments to ensure an integrated approach to risk management;
- develop and deliver AML, CDD and sanctions compliance training programs for employees at all levels;
- oversee internal and external audits of the AML, CDD and sanctions programs, ensuring compliance and addressing any findings;
- communicate effectively with senior management and the board on AML, CDD and sanctions-related matters;
- monitor regulatory developments and advise on necessary changes to policies and procedures;
- ensure ongoing training is provided to maintain awareness of regulatory changes and emerging threats;
- stay updated on the latest trends, technologies, and best practices in AML, CDD and sanctions compliance;
- drive innovation and continuous improvement in the AML and sanctions programs;
- implement new tools and technologies to enhance the effectiveness of monitoring and compliance efforts.
What skills are we looking for?
- bachelor’s degree in finance, business, or a related field. Master’s degree is preferred;
- Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS);
- at least 5 years of experience in AML, CDD, sanctions compliance, and monitoring within a financial institution;
- experience working with regulators and handling regulatory examinations;
- strong knowledge of relevant regulations and industry best practices;
- strong leadership and team management skills;
- excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills;
- exceptional communication and interpersonal skills;
- ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
