The 22 Most-Anticipated Movies of 2022

1. Batman

Our favorite Batman is coming back with Robert Pattinson playing the titular role. “Brutal, dark and terrifying” – this is how Matt Reeves’ Batman is described. Judging from the trailer, the Batman will be dark and brutal.

In the story, your Bruce Wayne will come faceato-face with Riddler starring Pal Dano. The tailer introduces also Zoe Kravits as the Catwoman, Collin Farrell as Penguin, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth and Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Gordon. As we can see the list of actors involved in the Batman speaks for itself.

2. Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore

The third in the Harry Potter spin-off series with the dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald (played by Mads Mikkelsen) instead of Johnny Depp. Harry Potter’s director is David Yates  with top cast including Eddie Redmayne, Jude Law, Dan Fogler, Ezra Miller and others. The movie is about a struggle of good guys against Grindelwald during the Second World War. We are looking forward to seeing  the end of the story.

3. Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre

Directed by Guy Ritchie, and starred by Jason Stethem, it is not an ordinary blockbuster.

Special agent Orson Fortune and his team of operatives recruit the Hollywood’s biggest movie stars to help them on an undercover mission when the sale of a new weapons technology threatens to disrupt the world order.

4․ Death on the Nile

The movie is a new screen version of a detective story based on Agatha Christie’s novel. The release date for the movies was repeatedly postponed. The movie is now set to debut in first half of February. The action takes place in Egypt where detective Hercules Poirot is involved in the investigation of another murder. Starring Gal Gadot, Letitia Wright and Armie Hammer.

5․ Ambulance

Michael Bey’s action thriller starring Gyllenhaal. Veteran Will Sharp badly needs money to save his deadly ill wife. Two bank robbers, the adoptive brothers Danny and Will Sharp hijack an ambulance after a heist gone wrong. Only inside the ambulance are the doctor and her critically injured patient, one of the policemen shot during the robbery.

6․ Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

Marvel will open the season with Doctor Strange 2. Doctor Strange played by Benedict Cumberbatch  returns in May. The action takes place after the events of WandaVision, Loki’s first season and Spider-Man. No Way Home. We will also see Elizabeth Olsen and Rachel McAdams in it.

7․ Moonfall

Roland Emerich’s science fiction disaster film is about the Moon falling out of the sky onto the Earth. Is there a way out? Starring: Halle Berry, Patrick Wilson, John Bradley, Michale Penya and Donald Satherland.

8․ Uncharted

A screen version of one of the most popular videogames. The story is about young adventure seeker Nathan Drake and his mentor Victor “Sully” Sullivan. Starring: Tom Holland, Mark Wahlberg and Antonio Banderas.  

9․ Marry me

Music superstars Kat Valdez and Bastian are getting married before a global audience of fans. But when Kat learns seconds before her vows, that Bastian has been unfaithful, she instead decides to marry a stranger in the crowd. Starring Jennifer Lopes, Owen Wilson and Maluma.

10․ Sonic the Hedgehog 2

After settling in Green Hills, Sonic is eager to prove that it takes to be a true hero. His test comes when Dr.Robotnik returns, this time with a new partner, Knuckles, in search for an emerald that has the power to destroy civilizations. Sonic joins Tails fox to travel across the world and find the emerald before it can appear in the wrong hands.

11․ Black Adam

The film tells us the story of anti-hero Black Adam who first appeared in DC Comics in 1945. Initially being a prince in Old Egypt who was chosen by great wizard Shazam to be his successor. Shazam gifted Teth-Adam with the power of the gods, transforming him into Mighty Adam. However, Mighty Adam was corrupted by his own power and became a ruthless tyrant. Shazam, naming his corrupt champion "Black Adam," was unable to take back the powers he had given him, so he banished him to the farthest star of the universe. It took him five thousand years to come back.
Starring: famous Dwayne Johnson.

12․ The Flash

It is a solo film about Flash the runner (Ezra Miller). In order to save its mother the hero tries to go back in time but created an alternate reality, putting the world in danger. Gal Gadot is co-starring as a Wonder woman. Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton are playing as young and old Batman.

13․ The Northman

Robert Eggers is known as a thriller director. The Northman is Eggers’ newest offering. Set in the 10th century Iceland, the story tells about Viking prince who sets out to avenge his father’s death at the hands of his uncle. Starring: Alexander Skarsgard, Nicole Kidman, Anya Taylor-Joy, Ethan Hawke and Willem Dafoe.  

14. Jurassic World: Dominion

Jurassic World 2 sequel tells us how the ancient dinosaurs and humans co-existed in the same world. The film is directed by Colin Trevorrow, starring Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard and Laura Dern. So, what have they prepared for us after complaints on the two previous films?

15. Cyrano

Game of Thrones star Peter Dinklage and Haley Benneth (The Girl on the Train, The Magnificent Seven) are teaming up with Pride and Prejudice director Joe Wright for a movie version of the musical play Cyrano. It is a screen version of Edmond Rostand “Cyrano de Bergerak” novel. The plot revolves around the emotional problems of Cyrano, who, despite his many gifts, feels that no woman can ever love him because he has an enormous nose.

16. The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent

Tom Gormican’s film in which Nicholas Cage stars as Nick Cage. Creatively unfulfilled and facing financial ruin, the fictionalized version of Cage must accept a large amount of money to attend the birthday of a dangerous superfan (Pedro Pascal). The billionaire promises to generously pay for the meeting and the hero agrees. Things take a wildly unexpected turn when Cage is recruited by a CIA operative (Tiffany Haddish) and forced to live up to his own legend, channeling his most iconic and beloved on-screen characters in order to save himself and his loved ones.  The way the story ends will be known in April.

17. Lightyear

Pixar’s Lightyear and Toy Story prequel is about creation of Buzz Lightyear (voiced by Chris Evans). Not unlikely that some day we will see also a computer-animated Toy Story Woody.

18. Thor: Love and Thunder

It’s already the fourth film  about Thor directed by the same Taika Waititi (who worked on Thor: Ragnarok).  Chris Hamsworth will play the same hero. Co-starring Tessa Thompson, Christian Bail (playing Gor), Chris Pratt and other famous actors.
Natalie Portman is also starring in the film with an important role.

19. Black panther: Wakanda forever

Ryan Coogler’s famous film-comics sequel  («Fruitvale Station», «Creed: Rocky's Legacy»), in which T’Chala’s sister Shuri became a Black Panther coinciding with tragic death of the African superhero actor: Chadwic Boseman died of cancer in Summer 2020 and the script underwent significant changes after it.

20. Avatar 2

After 10 years in production, James Cameron will surprise the audience with the debut of Avatar sequel.  The movie actions take place on Pandora, with much of the movie taking place under water. Starring: Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana.

21. Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom

James Wan (Saw, Astral and The Conjuring) returned to shoot the sequel about a DC superhero played by Jason Momoa. Now Arthur Curry has to protect Atlantis with the help of his Brother/enemy Orm (Patric Wilson). You will see also Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, evil Black Manta and Aquaman’s girlfriend Mera played by Amber Herd.

22. The lost city

Brilliant, but reclusive author Loretta Sage has spent her career writing about exotic places in her popular romance-adventure novels featuring handsome cover model Alan, who has dedicated his life to embodying the hero character, “Dash.” While on tour promoting her new book with Alan, Loretta is kidnapped by an eccentric billionaire who hopes that she can lead him to the ancient lost city’s treasure from her latest story. Wanting to prove that he can be a hero in real life and not just on the pages of her books, Alan sets off to rescue her.
